A quick heads-up that there won't be any morning briefings or threads of the week for yours truly for the rest of this month. My partner and I are taking our first international flight since COVID, to mark our hopefully triumphant return to Japan!

If you're wondering about the generic-looking logo at the top of this post it's for Ubigi, the eSIM we'll both be using for local data. $17 USD for 10 GB for 30 days is considerably cheaper than the $16 CAD per day that Bell would charge each of us to access our home data abroad. Fingers crossed that it actually works...

A quick fyi that there won't be any morning briefings or threads of the week for the next 15 days; yours truly and the missus will be taking in the wetter, slightly warmer weather on a winter tour of Vancouver Island.

The highlight of our trip was going to be storm-watching over the beaches of Tofino, but right now it looks like the Samsung Smart Tags in our luggage will be the star of the show — we just got word that our one-hour layover in Vancouver is now negative-five minutes thanks to a flight delay, and it will be most interesting to see if our bags make it with us all the way.
