The only thing I have heard (from another forum) is it connects well, but the call audio is not as good as the ZTE.

Okay guys, I now realize you get what you pay for. My ZTE Z723EL (Straight Talk Home Home) box has become utter crap. I need to change boxes if I plan to keep my Straight Talk Home Phone, and my local Walmart is now carrying a new home phone box. Just wondering if anyone has any details?
So my ZTE Z723EL (I bought the refurbished model directly from Straight Talk) is acting totally weird when it receives calls. Almost every single incoming call has a three tone burst that comes on as soon as I answer or the answering machine picks up. HAd three incoming calls this week and the tones were on all three calls. It sounds like the same three tones you hear when you dial a wrong number.
Straight Talk's representatives have NO idea what to do about it. Even ZTE couldn't help. It appears that there is a glitch in their firmware in those ZTE models. I read somewhere that AT&T actually replaced a lot of these same boxes because of customer complaints about the tones issue. Apparently ZTE replaced the AT&T boxes with new equipment including a firmware fix.
So while checking Walmart's site, I see they now have the Straight Talk Prepaid Home Phone Base by Moxee
(MoxeeModel: STKOK500HPECPWP) - also known as KonnectOne. Same price as the ZTE at $49.99. It almost looks identical to the ZTE unit with the exception of some sort of grid at the top of the unit.
Anyone here using the Moxee/KonnectOne box? My local Walmart has three of the units in stock so I want to pick one up if anyone can recommend it. I don't want to keep buying these boxes if they all have the same issue of the odd tones from nowhere. By the way, you CANNOT buy the Moxee/KonnectOne home phone box through the Straight Talk website. They only have them at Walmart.

I found out why. It was because I was on my mobile and didn't see it. On my laptop it was right at the top. I cleared my cache and hope that solved it.
Anyway, went to Walmart on Sunday and bought the Moxee brand Straight Talk Home Phone box.
First impressions: It looks identical to the ZTE Z723EL with the exception of a grid kind of thing at the top. The notification bar on the front (on/off, battery, voicemail indicator and signal bars) is almost identical as well. The back side is a little different with the sim card slot on the back instead of under the bottom cover. But the phone line slots and on/off button, dual antenna mounts and charger slot are about the same as the ZTE.
I'm getting five bars of service so a good signal. The call quality is as good as the ZTE if not better (callers seem just a bit louder). The callers say I sound great and very natural, not muffled or "tinny" either.
The one HUGE difference in this model and the Huawei and ZTE is the "dial tone" and the ringing sound when you make a call. It does not sound like the old POTS line dial tone or any other tone I've ever heard. It actually sounds like a 300 hz tone. Yes, both the dial tone and the ring tone both sound like a 300 hz tone. I thought it was something wrong until I realized that is their brand of tone. I'll be honest and say I'm not crazy about that at all. It would have been nice to have a more traditional sounding dial tone and ring tone. But since I'm using it for a home phone, it'll work fine. Just a bit of a shock.
So far, between me and others calling me, I've had none of the crazy tone issues with the Moxee like I did with the ZTE. Fingers crossed this new brand of box solves the issue. I'm not going to have much of a chance to go back to the ZTE. As soon as I finished the install of the Moxee box, I tossed the ZTE in the trash. Good riddance.
I used the automated transfer service with Straight Talk and the Moxee box was up and running in about 10 minutes.
So far, so good. I'll keep everyone posted.
It is more between a 300 to 400 Hz tone. It threw me for a loop when I picked up the handset and that tone was emitting. Then I called my cell and it rang. The same tone emits when it is ringing the other party. Not only that, but the same tone emits when the line is busy.
So apparently they just decided to use the same tone for a dial tone, ringing tone and busy tone. No variety of the sound, just the timing of the bursts for ringing and busy.
To answer your question about the box and the handsets - the box itself makes no sound. It rings the handsets. Ever since I've had Straight Talk home phone for the last couple of years, I plugged the boxes into the internal phone wiring in the house and feed the signal to the house outlets (after I disconnected AT&T's copper wires from the outside box). I use two different phone sets for my house (5 wireless handsets total) and all of them ring when someone calls. The box itself is pushing enough power out to run through the wiring of my split level house (but again it is only ringing two different phone sets). Pretty sure it would struggle with the old fashioned plug in handsets if you tried to run the signal through all that wiring.
As far as call quality, couldn't ask for better. Every call I've made or received since I connected it is great. As I mentioned, I'm getting full bars of service here (Verizon is great in my area) and the phone is on the top level of the house on a shelf by the window. The quality is much, much better than the old Huawei box (CDMA) but about on the same level as the ZTE but I actually think this Moxee box may be a little louder. You can increase the volume during a call using ## but so far I haven't had to do that at all.
I think I mentioned it but I used the automated transfer service for ST and it went through without a hitch. About 10 minutes total. Just need the last 4 digits of your old box's IMEI and then the new IMEI number and then follow the instructions. I decided to do it that way than use a customer service rep to do it since they're most likely working short-handed with the COVID-19 situation being what it is.
Does anyone know if this company (KonnectOne) is an American company or Chinese? I looked it up, but I can only find their headquarters are in Washington USA but still not convinced the company is American. I realize the Moxee phone base unit was probably made in China, but would be interested to hear if that's true or not as well. Also where the firmware originated from would be good to know also (China, US, India, etc...).

Actually it is doing great! Every call, incoming and outgoing, crystal clear. I haven't missed any calls to my knowledge and I'm getting 4 bars of service at my house (Verizon works great here).
The only thing that is really getting some getting used to is the dial tone, outgoing ring tone and busy signal tone. It is the same tone for all three. As I mentioned before it is the same loud tone (I would say between 300 to 400 Hz) that is used for all three. When you click the talk button on your phone, it is that steady loud tone. Busy signal, same tone. Calling someone, same tone. I wish Moxee would have at least used something different for the dial, ring and busy tones. It (the Moxee manual) says it has the ability to receive updates so maybe that will come down the line. But since it is Straight Talk, I'm not going to hold my breath for software or firmware updates.
The major advantage for me is no more odd, rogue, random tones like I did with the ZTE home phone box. All that stopped with the new Moxee. Every call is clear and works as it should.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase. If you're looking to get away from the ZTE, I would go with the Moxee. Two thumbs up from me!![]()
Picked up the new Moxee box at WalMart to replace the ZTE. I activated it and all I get is a loud buzzing noise instead of the normal dial tone.
3 hours on the phone with Straight Talk and I've gotten nowhere. Actually exchanged the Moxee at WalMart and the replacement is doing the same thing.
I read the post above and can't believe this is the new dial tone?
Can anyone help me figure this out?

This Moxee is the biggest POS I have ever purchased.
The high pitched screeching dial tone totally ruins the device. Must have been some brain dead morons that designed this thing.
Returned to WalMart and went back to the ZTE.
I had the intermittent tones on incoming calls with the ZTE home phone base, so I got the Moxee to replace it. No more tones during incoming calls! But now there is a new problem.
Usually, when someone calls, the phone rings normally, I answer(or my answering machine picks up if I don't), and all is good.
Other times, there is just one, very faint ring, and if I don't hear it and pick up, it goes to ST voicemail(my answering machine only hears that one ring, so it doesn't pick up).
Because I don't check the ST voicemail often, some messages get to me too late.
Anyone else have this happen?
I don't have a ZTE or Moxee but know how regular landline ringers work. On a landline when you get a call, there's a relay/transformer on your line at the main trunk box that serves your area. When a call comes to you the voltage to your line is increased to activate your ringer. When you (or your machine) answers it's sensed, and the voltage drops back down. On some phones if that voltage uptick fails to happen due to a faulty relay/transformer there can be a very faint ring hardly audible.
I don't know how one of these wireless boxes handles this temporary uptick in voltage to activate a phone ringer; but could you be having this occasional faint ring when your Moxee charge is low ? Or an issue with the Moxee not always providing the extra volts required for the phone ringer?
