Fido 5G coming in July 2021

After talking to a support rep on another issue, I asked when 5G was coming to Fido. The tech rep said in July.

Let’s hope!

For me on Rogers 5G is a joke. I remember when I first got it doing speed tests with my coworkers and Rogers LTE was pulling faster speeds.

They supposedly launched 5G standalone however they haven’t pushed out a carrier bundle for iPhone to take advantage of it yet.

Trust me, you aren’t missing anything. The fact that they dropped the idea of charging people extra for it was pretty telling.

I tend to agree. 5G isn't much faster than LTE in Canada yet, there was going to be an auction for 3,500 Mhz but that's been delayed. Even on LTE, Rogers doesn't enable as much Carrier Aggregation (CA) as much as Bell'us do. You end up with less speed overall.
