Is the Textnow SIM card tied to the email address that ordered the SIM?
The activation instructions that accompany the SIM card say to "Launch the Textnow app and sign into your account". Does this *have* to be the account that ordered the SIM, or can a new account be set up with an email address that is different from the one that ordered the SIM card?
Thank you very much for any help!

TN SIMs can be activated with any account including new ones signing up with a new email.
afaik you must be within the US, likely on the mainland.
If that account already has an associated SIM, that will be deactivated.
I find the SIMs pretty useless except as an emergency glovebox backup.
But got them anyway for all our TN accounts, since it costs just a buck, and maybe "legitimizes" those lines more in TN's system as they continue to chop and change their plans, pricing and policies
Yes, a TextNow Sam can be used with any TextNow account. Depending on your needs, they can be useful. I was lucky enough to get the 250 MB per month free on my TextNow SIM. Other people have gotten extended use, including rideshare, email, etc. But, that's all just luck of the draw.
Does TextNow use Verizon?![]()
I have the app on a Verizon Locked phone and it works fine with WiFi.
Will I be able to use the sim?
TextNow uses data. As long as the TextNow app can be installed on an internet connected device, you can use TextNow. You can also use the TextNow SIM card, which runs on T-Mobile, to provide that data. If the Vzw phone is SIM card slot unlocked, it's likely that you can use it with the TextNow SIM. It will work best if the phone has all the T-Mobile bands.
The SIM
Cannot have two active concurrently on the same TN number / account / email
Just curious if anyone has found the TN sim to be reliable? Even if I have a good cellular signal, calls drop, one party can’t hear the other, etc. As long as I’m using it on WiFi everything’s good. Tried using it in different phones and I make sure APN is set correctly.
Yes. All that I’ve tried have 4G LTE/VoLTE. And T-Mobile bands.
